The idea for this story came to my mother one day as she was reading in Genesis.  She gave the idea to me to create into a short story.

They stood around the drafting table in the middle of the room, gazing in contemplation at the drawing before them.

The Father, in the middle of Them, looked at His Son who was seated on His right.

“We will give him a brain, so that he can think and reason and make the choices he will need to make.”

They looked at Each Other, knowing that this would give Their creation the freedom to exercise his own will.  They All knew the consequences that would come from this, but it had been ordained from the beginning.

The Son nodded and moved His hand over the paper.

“Yes, Father and eyes so that he may appreciate the beauty of the world that We have created for him to live in; and ears to hear the wondrous melodies that will fill his world.”

The Third Person hovered over the drawing table.

“He will need a mouth to tell others about Us and to sing in Our Name.”

The Son once again stepped forward and ran His finger over the paper, adding a strong back and broad shoulders “So he may carry the Truth to the world.”

The Father studied Their plan so far then said, “He will need arms to raise in praise and worship to Us; and hands to do Our work in the vineyard.”

The Son looked at His Own Body and said, “Let Us also give him legs and feet, so that he can go where We would have him, running the race that is set before him.”

The Father looked at His Spirit and said, “He will need a spirit also, so that You may talk to him and tell him what he must do.”

The Spirit nodded and added, “And he will need a heart, to love Us and his fellowman.”

The Father said, “He will have blood flowing through him because life is in the blood, and his salvation will be through the shedding of blood.”

They looked down at the finished drawing, silently agreeing with the fulfillment of Their plan.

And so They formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.

And They saw everything that They had made and behold, it was very good.

    • Thank you Greg. I’ll tell her. She gets these ideas every once in a while and then calls and tells me about it to see if I can flesh it out into a story. I have another one that I’ll post next Friday.
