“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.”  I Peter 3:15

Last week, Jeanne Webster, at Women’s Window, posted a question asking for her readers’ thoughts and beliefs.  The question was posed on her blog by an atheist and it was this:

“Does God lie? The Bible says that God protects believers from harm, yet in all truth,  they suffer like any other person.  Therefore, God lies.  If God lies, then there is no God.”

In answer to Jeanne’s request for thoughts and beliefs, a number of her readers gave her the reasons behind their faith and the surety of God’s existence, holiness and love.

This was a good exercise for myself as my mind tends to act like a sieve at times and I have a tough time memorizing verses and keeping them there for future reference.

I know what I believe, but to be able to pull the verses out of my mind at any given moment is hard for me.  I know a few verses, but to be able to find them in the Bible is difficult.

Jeanne, I thank you for using that question to get us to really search out and analyze our faith.  As you and Anne pointed out, Satan intended it for evil, but God worked it for good.

It is because of this that I have decided to add a new category to my blog called “What I Believe”and begin to write specific articles that will outline my beliefs and verify them with scripture.  I will be posting the first in the series later today and will outline my beliefs on Things Past.

It has been good for me to really delve into God’s Word and find the verses that back up what I have been taught.  I now have an even deeper understanding of what is expected of us as we sojourn here on this earth.

If you haven’t done so already, visit Jeanne and read the article and the comments and see for yourself the reason for our hope that we cling to in this life.

Praise God for His faithfulness and guiding hand in our lives.

    • Thank you Jeanne. I don’t know why but lately your comments have been going into my spam folder. I did not realize you had commented until just now.

This has been a good exercise for me also. I really needed to do this and get things solidified in my own mind.
