“Times have changed.”

“That is so old fashioned.”

How many times have we ‘older’ adults heard those words from the younger generations?

Too many I am sure.

My response is always the same:

“Maybe times have changed here on earth, but that is only because people are trying to find justification for their actions.  God has not changed, and His rules have not changed.”

The answer to that statement is normally something along the lines of:

“But God gave us free will.  That means we should be able to do what we want to.  No one should be able to tell me what I can and can’t do.”

Again, a twisting around of what the Bible says.

My reaction:

“It isn’t really people telling you what to do, but people repeating what God has said He wants you to do.  Yes, He gave us each free will, but if you have given your life to Him, you should be obeying what He tells us in the Bible, not using the ‘free-will-argument’ to do what you want.”

Just because people have changed the times, and have tried to twist the Truth to fit their desires, that does not mean that God’s will has changed for our lives.

From ages past to eternal future, God is the same.  Holy, righteous.

And He still requires His children to emulate those qualities.

  1. Good post. My thoughts have been leading to a blog like this. I believe that society today, even some christians believe that God changes with the times. Thanks for the reminder that He doesn’t.
