“Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men … Keep thy heart with all diligence: for out of it are the issues of life. … Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.” Proverbs 4:13, 23, 26
Our hearts are the instruments through which we can look to see where we are headed in life.
They show us whether we love evil or good. Our hearts direct our thoughts and our actions; and decide the path our feet will take.
As I read these verses this morning, I had to check my own life to see where my heart was leading my feet.
I discovered that while I am trying to be ever mindful of which path I am on, sometimes I walk without thinking and find that I have traveled a little farther from the Lord unknowingly.
That is when I need to pray with the Psalmist: “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 129:23&24
